| Grampa taught Uncle Stephen his favorite way to hold babies. (3/16/2005 and 3/17/2005) | |
This was the first time Uncle Stephen was able to come see Gabi, so we were glad he chose to spend part of his Spring Break with us. Grampa and the boys had to leave last weekend, but Gramma stayed for an extra week to help take care of little Gabi as well as to assist in getting the house ready to sell. Thus, Gabi spent plenty of time playing with Grampa and her uncles before they left.

Why, out of curiosity, is that a favored holding position in the first pictures? It seems like it supports her head really well; but why the preference?
And can I borrow her? Please? You guys are killing, KILLING the biological clock here. :)
Gabriella says thank you for the compliments! To answer your question, Mary Beth, Grampa's hold supports her head well, puts pressure on her tummy (which helps if she has gas), allows you to pat or rub her back (to calm her down), and doesn't allow her to flop over (as she has a tendency to arch her back when she wakes up and stretches or when she gets upset). Also, this way she can see the world (rather than just your shoulder). And you are welcome to come visit and "borrow" her in our house. :)
Ah, I hadn't even thought about how pressure on her tummy would help. My sisters always used to arch their backs when they were annoyed -- babies can be hard to hold on to when they decide that you're oppressing them by snuggling them sweetly. :)
You look great, too, Lissa -- your hair is super-soft and shiny-looking, especially. Pregnancy hormones or salon treatment? (Sounds like a commercial, no?) I remember my mother's hair used to get gloriously glossy when she was pregnant. In any case you and your daughter (I like saying that) are both beautiful.
