Exploring Decatur with our Visitors

Gramma Jane, Grampa, and Uncle Brian came to visit last weekend.

Flu Shot
First, Gabi had to get her flu shot. I brought a pacifier, a cup of water, and a bag of sugar. Just before her shot, I dipped the pacifier in the water and then in the sugar and gave it to her just as the nurse was preparing the shot site. It did the trick of distracting Gabi -- she didn't even notice the shot!

Gabriella looks like such a big girl,
sitting with her sippy cup
and new shoes!
Gabi is intrigued by the
sugar-coated pacifier.

Walking around downtown Decatur
We dropped Mama's car off at the shop and rode the MARTA to downtown Decatur to enjoy a day of walking and exploring.

she plays with her paper cup.

As you all can see - Gabi is still the star of the show. She is even sweeter in person. And I'll certainly be 'Cheering on the Irish' with her this week-end.

Gabi definitely liked having extra people around last weekend, even if she's starting to hit her stranger anxiety phase. She especially liked getting to pull Uncle Brian's hair. She thought he was so funny!

Unfortunately, this is a bye week for the Irish, so Gabi won't be watching football. But you can cheer for the Irish anyway if you like. :)

Well, the bye week is fortunate for Papa, who has to work on Saturday and wouldn't have been able to watch the game if there were one.

And Gabi is feeling much better today than she was over the weekend. She still has some congestion, but she's been very happy.

She is learning so many new things every day... dropping things for us to pick up (and watching them fall), feeding herself, pulling up, cruising, talking in a more conversational manner, being coy (laughing at an admirer and then hiding her face behind Mama's arm)... Little Gabriella has certainly captured our hearts!

Oh Gabi, you just make my day so much sweeter. Glad to see you're becoming an avid sports fan...we'll have to watch some NCAA bball together and you can cheer for the Zags - I mean Irish. haha Can't wait to see you in a couple months...don't get to advanced now, I might not be able to keep up!
