Vacation and Fathers' Day

Papa's Vacation
We spent the rest of Papa's vacation week exploring Atlanta. Mama and Gabi get to see the city all the time, but Papa is usually busy working.

Georgia Aquarium

Gabi and Papa check out the fish net
in the Georgia Explorer exhibit of the aquarium.

Gabi and Papa zoomed down the whale slide.

Gabi points to some especially colorful fish.

Gabi likes showing Papa all the fish.

Gabi is enthralled by the glowing, pulsating jellyfish.

Olypmic Park

After a morning at the aquarium, we stop by the
playground at Olympic Park across the street.

Softball Game

At the end of a busy day,
Gabi cheers her parents on at the annual softball game.

Decatur Beach Party

Gabi, Ella, Gabriella, Aiden, and their moms
listening to a concert at the Decatur Beach Party.

At Home
Even though it was Papa's vacation, we needed to get some yardwork done, so we spent Saturday at home.

Gabi sits on the kitchen floor with a book to eat breakfast.

Gabi is ready to help her parents do yardwork.

Gabi decided it was too hot to do yardwork,
so she played with the waterhose instead.

"Yea! I got a drink of water!
And those silly parents are working hard while I sit here and play."

Dinner for Daddy
We went to church Saturday night because Papa was asked to cantor. Then we went out for a pre-Fathers' Day dinner.

Gabi put her sippy cup inside a regular cup.

Now Gabi is drinking out of a glass just like Mama and Papa!

Gabi tries out the chopsticks.

Fathers' Day
Papa had few requests for Fathers' Day. He wanted French toast for breakfast and steak for lunch. He also wanted Gabi to give him a distinct name. Papa sounds too much like puppy and diaper and apple. (No, really, it does... "puppuh" for puppy and "dapa" for diaper and "bapa" for apple -- I guess all words need to follow the consonant-vowel pattern, so she adds a b to the beginning of apple.)

We decided to switch to calling Michael Daddy instead. We were sitting down for a graham cracker snack with Daddy, and Gabi said "Dada" and I cheered and said, "Yes, that's your Daddy. Dada!" because Gabi loves positive reinforcement. Unfortunately, she attached that word to the graham cracker instead of Michael... but we're working on it.

Oooh! Gabi likes blueberries and French toast!

Clapping for more blueberries.

Since it's Fathers' Day,
Gabi decides to share some blueberries with her Daddy.

Choir Party
We ended the vacation (and Fathers' Day) with a choir party at Jeff and (the other) Michael's house.

Gabi chases the dogs around at the choir party.
Maggie is watching Gabi here, and I think CC is hiding.

Gabi wants to sing karaoke, too!
